While major players dominated the spotlight at this year’s Web Summit, smaller Canadian innovators are also making meaningful progress. Among them is British Columbia–based Autochart.ai, a platform that uses artificial intelligence to automatically generate clinical notes and handle administrative follow-ups for healthcare providers.
Autochart.ai was named a pre-qualified vendor by Canada Health Infoway for its national AI Scribe Program. Set to launch this month, the federally funded initiative will offer up to 10,000 fully subsidized AI scribe licenses to eligible primary care clinicians across the country.
The company’s technology, hosted securely in Canada, listens to patient-clinician conversations, then structures the information into high-quality medical documentation while automating tasks like emails and referrals. Its selection follows a comprehensive evaluation of the platform’s privacy protections, cybersecurity measures, and usability.
“Our mission has always been to contribute to the provision of more equitable, efficient and intelligent healthcare,” said Dr. Ali Okhowat, chief medical officer at Autochart.ai. “We’re honoured to be part of Infoway’s vision for a more connected, patient-centred health system.”
