Leaders from across British Columbia’s technology and innovation sectors will gather this Wednesday, October 22, for a special tribute reception honouring Greg Caws—a pioneering executive and community builder whose influence helped shape the province’s tech ecosystem.
Hosted by Innovate BC and DIGITAL, the event will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. at SFU’s Segal Graduate School of Business in downtown Vancouver. Attendees will celebrate Caws’ life and legacy through shared stories and a photo montage highlighting his decades of leadership and mentorship.
Caws served as president and CEO of Innovate BC, founding board director of DIGITAL, president of the Premier’s Technology Council, and chair and CEO of VIATEC. Across these roles, he was known for uniting people and organizations around a shared vision: advancing technology that improves lives and strengthens communities.
Beyond his professional achievements, Caws is remembered for his warmth, generosity, and deep commitment to fostering inclusivity and collaboration. As Innovate BC noted in announcing the event, “Greg’s passion for innovation was matched by his advocacy for equity and representation in every space he entered.”
Those who worked with him say his optimism and mentorship helped shape not just the direction of B.C.’s innovation economy, but the culture of care and connection that defines it today.
The event is open to members of the tech community who wish to pay tribute.
