Blossom breaks records with Canada’s biggest-ever equity crowdfunding round

What started with just 25 users has become one of Canada’s fastest-growing fintechs—and now, it’s made history.

Vancouver-based Blossom, a social network for investors, has closed a $3 million funding round. In just six hours, over 1,100 users invested $1.86 million, making it the most successful equity crowdfunding campaign in Canadian history, according to the company. The round was completed via FrontFundr, with the remaining funds coming from strategic angel investors.

“I am absolutely blown away by the power of the Blossom community,” wrote CEO Maxwell Nicholson on LinkedIn. Last year, per Betakit, the company said new funding would fuel its U.S. expansion. With this round, Blossom’s total funding now tops $7 million.

A social network for investors

Blossom launched in 2021 to bring a social layer to investing. The app lets users follow verified Canadian investors, track their portfolios in real time, and discuss trades and strategies in a feed that feels more like TikTok than Bloomberg.

It’s a bet on a new kind of investor—one who learns from peers, not pundits—and so far, it’s working. Blossom now counts 275,000 users, with 10,000 joining just last week, according Nicholson.

The company’s approach taps into the growing demand for financial transparency, creator-driven content, and real-time investing insights. And with a strong base in Canada, Blossom is setting its sights on broader markets.

A milestone for equity crowdfunding

For FrontFundr, which has supported over 250 raises since 2015, Blossom’s campaign marks a high point—and potentially suggests a shift in how Canadians are participating in early-stage investing.

Nicholson praised the FrontFundr team for handling the logistics of onboarding over 1,000 new shareholders, calling the experience “seamless.”

With 75% of its users and revenue still coming from Canada, Blossom says it’s just getting started.

“We’re just at the tip of the iceberg,” Nicholson wrote. “And I’m pumped for what the future holds.”
