Vancouver's tech scene is the envy of many cities across the globe. From world-class universities to startups shaping the future, the region has become a magnet for young talent, hungry to make their mark in technology. It's a thriving ecosystem of innovation and ambition, making it perfectly aligned for the future of RBC.

For Tech@RBC, Vancouver represents far more than simply geographic expansion. It’s an opportunity to work with top talent in a culture that values people first.

A region, a commitment

In recent years, our Vancouver Hub has become a beacon for early talent seeking to launch meaningful careers in technology, and our approach is deliberately people-focused.

Technology was advancing faster than ever, and we knew that for a large business to truly transform, we needed a completely new approach to engaging new tech talent. We wanted to unleash the entrepreneurial spirit within the bank and among young people today, to bring these two groups together and show that even the largest, most established organizations can adapt and thrive.

This philosophy runs through everything we do. From co-ops and internships to intensive summer innovation programs and new graduate experiences, the Tech@RBC leadership team knows that young talent doesn't just want a job, they want to grow.

 The Amplify effect

When RBC launched the Amplify program in 2016, it was a bold experiment: assemble cross-functional teams of students, pose real business challenges, and watch what happens when young minds meet cutting-edge technology and mentorship from seasoned RBC professionals.

Nearly a decade later, the results speak volumes. In 2025 Amplify received over 11,000 applications for just 68 positions, a testament to the program's reputation. Since its inception, 677 students have participated and 190 have gone on to become full-time RBCers. Beyond the talent pipeline, these student teams have filed over 200 patent applications, driving genuine innovation that fuels the bank's strategic priorities. But the real magic of Amplify isn't in the numbers. What really makes the program special is the mentorship and the community that has developed among the students and the teams that they work with.

The Vancouver Hub story

For Jessica, an Amplify business analyst at our Vancouver Hub, that belief became real on day one. "The entire team went out of their way to make us feel welcome, supported, and comfortable," she recalls. "Their effort to create such a positive and inclusive environment truly made the experience special."

This is our commitment to early talent in action. Through Amplify, Jessica solved a real business challenge alongside talented teammates. She collaborated directly with executives and subject matter experts, gaining insights into how RBC thinks strategically about innovation. She experimented with cutting-edge technologies and drove the delivery of a product from initial strategy through to creation. These aren't theoretical exercises; they're the kinds of experiences that accelerate growth and build confidence in young professionals.

"The Vancouver Hub is an inclusive and collaborative space," Jessica says. "Being able to present in front of the team and receive thoughtful feedback was incredibly helpful. We were able to use those insights to further refine our presentation, and it was a moment that truly highlighted how supportive and encouraging the Vancouver Hub is."

This is what sets Tech@RBC apart: we create an environment where our people feel the freedom and support to take their skills to the next level, while being respected for their talents regardless of their age.

 Cutting-edge tech, world-class support

For students and new graduates considering a career in technology, Tech@RBC in Vancouver offers something special: the opportunity to solve real business challenges, work directly with leading technologists, and gain hands-on exposure to emerging technologies that matter.

"At Tech@RBC, we believe early talent thrives when given the opportunity to solve meaningful business challenges with direct access to emerging technologies," says Daniella Radman, Senior Director, Talent & Experience, RBC. "Our early talent programs, from Amplify to our co-op and new graduate initiatives, are intentionally designed to enable participants to drive innovation that directly advances RBC's strategic priorities. Rather than learning about innovation in isolation, our students and new graduates collaborate alongside our most experienced technologists and leaders to create tangible impact."

"Through hands-on exposure to emerging technologies, agile methodologies, and critical skill development, we're building a workforce that's not just prepared for tomorrow, they're shaping it," Radman adds.

 The Vancouver advantage

Vancouver's universities attract exceptional talent from around the world. Combined with the city's vibrant tech community, it creates a unique opportunity for RBC to connect with the people who will shape the future of financial technology.

That's the Tech@RBC difference. That's why we're building in Vancouver.
