Foresight Canada has announced the winners of the Canadian Cleantech Awards, recognizing contributors across the cleantech ecosystem — from innovators and investors to adopters and ecosystem supporters. The ceremony took place at Web Summit Vancouver's Climate Innovation Zone.

"I am truly amazed by the calibre of work happening across our entire ecosystem," said David Sanguinetti, CEO of Foresight Canada. "From the visionary innovators to the dedicated adopters, funders, and supporters, these leaders are doing the heavy lifting to transform our economy for the better."

Two Burnaby-based organizations took home awards. Lynch Bus Lines, a family-owned transportation company operating a fleet of over 100 vehicles, won Adopter of the Year for its work integrating biodiesel fuels, eco-friendly maintenance practices, and high-efficiency emission controls across its operations. Foresight recently partnered with Lynch, BC Hydro, and Fuse Power Management on an 18-month vehicle-to-grid field demonstration project testing real-world energy exports from EV fleets to the grid.

Svante Technologies Inc. took home Scaleup Venture of the Year. The carbon capture company uses proprietary solid-sorbent filter and rotary contactor technology to capture CO2 from industrial point-source emissions and directly from the atmosphere. With over $547 million in funding from investors including Chevron and the Canada Growth Fund, Svante recently launched what it describes as the world's first commercial gigafactory for carbon capture filters.

Other winners include Stonebridge Financial, a Toronto-based investment firm with over $3.2 billion in assets under management, which won Funder of the Year; Cheryl Trudell, climate manager at Imperial Oil, who won Ecosystem Supporter of the Year; and Nova Scotia-based Aeon Blue, which won Startup Venture of the Year for its integrated hydrogen and carbon capture technology that produces eFuels from wind energy and seawater.
