Juno Industries has closed an oversubscribed $12 million financing round, bringing in new Canadian institutional, VC, and individual investors. The funds will support team and company expansion, R&D acceleration, mergers and acquisitions, and the development of solutions for Canadian and allied national security.
The Vancouver-based company was co-founded by technology entrepreneur Hunter Scharfe and former Minister of National Defence Harjit Sajjan, with a stated mission to re-establish Canadian dynamism by building a leading modern defence prime. Juno is focused on developing advanced autonomous robotic systems, AI-native command and control software, and persistent sensor fabrics.
"This round, supported by an engaged and mission-aligned group of Canadian investors, accelerates our ability to build the technology and teams required to establish Canada as a serious, sovereign defence power," said Hunter Scharfe, CEO and co-founder. "We are proud to broaden our work with the Armed Forces as we work to build Canada's modern defence prime."
"Canada and our NATO allies are at a turning point in national defence and Juno Industries exists to be a leader of that transformation," Scharfe added.
Last month, the company announced Polar Nexus, an Arctic-ready autonomous platform designed to strengthen communications and enhance sensing and intelligence capabilities in Canada's North and other harsh environments.
