Kari LaMotte has work to do
Plus 8 other stories you may have missed.
TGIF! Welcome to an unlocked Morning Report preview. If someone else sent you this, you can subscribe right here, right now:
It’s been four months since Kari LaMotte, the well-known head of entrepreneurship@UBC, stepped down from her role at the university. In her public goodbye note, she called her time there “rewarding, inspiring, complex, and fulfilling.” She praised her peers, saying, “It has been a true honour to work alongside the beautiful humans who make up this ecosystem.”
Now, she’s got some new colleagues who so far have had nothing but good things to say about her too. LaMotte has announced that she’s joined Kite Company Creator, a resource sector digital transformation firm, as its new chief operating officer. Her new boss, Kite founder and executive director Richard MacKellar, told the world this about his new hire: “She brings tremendous depth from her experience, connections, and knowledge at UBC, and as a startup entrepreneur. She also lives our values of creating diverse and inclusive teams. We look forward to her energy and commitment as we execute the vision to create exceptional companies of high value to address climate and environmental issues.”
To be honest, I hadn’t heard of Kite until yesterday. But with LaMotte in a leadership position there, you can bet we’ll be hearing a lot more about them.
Now, onto your daily briefing.
