Welcome to Vancouver Tech Journal’s Member Spotlight, a place where we can learn more about our community members, share their unique stories and specialities, what they can offer other members, and the kind of connections they’re looking for.
Today, we’re excited to introduce you to Hao-Yang Wang. Wang recently made the switch from opening and running some of Vancouver’s most popular restaurants — PiDGiN, Farmer’s Apprentice, and Nightingale — to becoming a data analyst.
I live in Vancouver, B.C. I was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan up to Grade 4, followed by London, England until Grade 6 before I landed in Canada.
I’m currently seeking work opportunities in the field of data analytics.
I have extensive background in hospitality, focused on new concept openings and leading restaurant operations. I would love to work with data to provide a meaningful impact in the food industry — especially on people’s growth and operation intelligence.
I touched base with the local tech community last summer.
Any professional life stories, tips, and quirks from community data people to help me better contextualize my priorities in this lane change.
Vancouver’s restaurant industry has provided me with much treasured experience and a rooted network. I’m always happy to share and chat.
VTJ was recommended to me when I was researching about working in tech. I was looking for networking opportunities and a supportive community, I found both quickly after my first Tuesday Morning Coffee with VTJ.
I became a member because of the culture VTJ is fostering, where a newcomer like myself can feel a part of, supported, and connected in a mercurial industry.
I’m personally very interested in any speakers who can share more about tech development in the agriculture and food distribution sector.
