The New Ventures BC Competition — a staple in the tech awards landscape, and a coveted trophy for startups — has announced its top 10 companies for 2024.
The largest and longest-running tech competition in the province, New Ventures BC is presented by crown corporation Innovate BC and helps early-stage businesses grow by providing knowledge from industry experts and networking opportunities to connect across the tech ecosystem.
After nearly six months of pitches, workshops, and hobnobbing, the 2024 finalists have won the chance to pitch to a panel of venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, and investors to earn their share of $250,000 in cash and prizes.
The top 10 startups, in alphabetical order, are:
CereCura Nanotherapeutics, Vancouver
Fibernx, Vancouver
Fibr.Bio, Vancouver
Insporos, Vancouver
SkiKrumb, Westbank
SkyAcres Agrotechnologies, Surrey
Timezyx Inc, Vancouver
Tree Track Intelligence, Port Coquitlam
VulcanX Energy, Vancouver

Those companies will need to impress nine judges, who represent venture funds, founders, and past winners of the competition. Eight prizes are up for grabs, including the $110,00 first-place package, $60,000 second-place award, and $35,000 third-place prize. Additional $10,000 awards will be given for categories including sustainability, female leadership, and leaping to the cloud.
