NorthX Climate Tech has announced $2.5 million in funding for five women-led companies developing climate hard tech across construction, agriculture, infrastructure, and materials. The investments are part of NorthX's Women in Climate Tech initiative, which targets a persistent gap in early-stage capital access for women founders.

Four of the five companies are Vancouver-based.

Carbonyx is transforming captured CO₂ and industrial waste into advanced materials, with NorthX funding supporting demonstration units in B.C. to validate the technology and divert concrete waste from landfill.

Seafoam Materials is developing carbon-storing building materials made from seaweed and upcycled waste, with funding going toward pilot manufacturing to scale production.

Insporos Technologies is using AI-powered, non-destructive seed analysis to identify seed quality and disease risk before planting, reducing agricultural waste and improving biosecurity.

Tydra Labs is developing waste-derived biopolymers as an alternative to microplastics in cosmetics, with NorthX funding supporting B.C.'s first decentralized fungal fermentation facility.

The fifth company, PermaC Land & Environment Inc., is addressing the climate and infrastructure risks of thawing permafrost by stabilizing vulnerable ground and reducing the greenhouse gas emissions it releases. Funding will help generate performance data to support deployment in Arctic communities.

"Women founders are developing solutions to economic, industrial, and climate challenges facing Canada," said Sarah Goodman, president and CEO of NorthX. "If we want to turn that innovation into companies that scale and create economic value here at home, we need to make sure founders have access to the early capital and commercialization support to prove their technologies and reach the market."

Since its founding in 2021, NorthX has committed more than $36 million across 45 projects to companies with women in leadership — representing more than 58% of its total capital commitments. Those investments have helped unlock over $430 million in additional capital, or nearly $12 for every NorthX dollar committed.
