🤝 FUNDING & DEALS

  • Incrowd, a live-streaming tech startup, secured $1.3 million in pre-seed funding from the not-for-profit corp. Canada Media for its prototype and production.

  • Topicflow, an AI-powered performance management platform, secured $2.5 million in seed funding from VC firms Founders’ Co-op and Ascend to grow its platform.

  • Fox Fold, a startup disrupting the $60 billion tissue market, announced its latest fundraising round was oversubscribed in just two weeks.

  • Unbounce, a landing page creation and optimization software, has merged with Insightly, a San Francisco-based CRM and project management software.

  • A new report was released on key findings and recommendations to to strengthen Vancouver as a world-class tech ecosystem — done in collaboration between local organizations Careers In Technology and Innovation, Lighthouse Labs, Tech2Step, and Vancouver.dev.

  • Annie Dahan, founder of Seacork, a biomaterial design studio, announced Seacork was among the 25 shortlisted startups for the Ocean Startup Project’s 2024 idea challenge — which offers startups the chance to secure up to $7K in funding, resources and support, and network building.

  • Andrew Reid, founder of Rival Technologies, a mobile-first conversational research platform, announced the launch of Rival Labs, to test and identify new features and solutions that can help executives, marketers, and research leaders uncover insights faster.

  • Foresight Canada, the cleantech accelerator, put a call out for innovators to apply for its Foresight 50 program, which helps ventures thrive through showcasing and 1:1 connections with international investors to raise capital and expand impact.

  • The Creative Destruction Lab, UBC’s seed-stage program for scalable, science-based companies, shared the complete list of its over 250 graduating ventures between 2023 and 2024 and noted applications for its next program are open until July 26.

  • Sneha Soni, founder of GreenNudge, a startup democratizing adoption of circular economy solutions, highlighted takeaways from this week’s Climate Capitalism event featuring authors Akshat Rathi and John Vaillant.

  • Simran Kang, founder of MyFO, a wealth management platform, was featured in CanadianSME Small Business Magazine on her thoughts on the changing landscape in wealth management.

  • Ingrid Polini, general partner at Maple Bridge Ventures, wrote about developing products that satisfy market demand for the first issue of Digital Entrepreneur magazine.
