Vancouver-based FabriSight Solutions has received $64,854 through the Canadian Food Innovation Network's Innovation Booster program, part of a broader $746,627 funding round awarded to eight Canadian foodtech companies. Industry partners will match the funds, bringing the total investment to just over $968,000.

FabriSight is developing an AI-powered computer vision platform that uses existing plant camera infrastructure to identify workflow bottlenecks and production losses in real time, giving processors operational insights without requiring new hardware installations.

"Food manufacturers often have limited visibility into how people, processes, and production flow interact on the plant floor," said Amin Ghasemazar, co-founder and CEO of FabriSight. "With CFIN's support, FabriSight is developing OverView to turn existing camera infrastructure into practical operational insights that help manufacturers improve line efficiency, boost labour productivity, and make faster, more confident decisions."

FabriSight is one of five companies in the cohort using AI to tackle operational challenges in food processing and distribution. The others are addressing procurement automation, yield optimization, predictive maintenance, and supply chain traceability. The remaining three companies in the round are working on physical processing innovations, including a new enzyme-based canola protein extraction process from Alberta-based CBS Bio Platforms.

"The companies in this cohort are building the kinds of tools that the industry needs to implement to become more productive, resilient, and self-reliant."

Since 2021, CFIN's Innovation Booster has awarded more than $7 million to 85 Canadian foodtech companies. CFIN-funded companies have collectively generated more than $90 million in economic impact and created over 355 jobs and co-op placements.
