🏙️ A big week for biotech
A short week, but a rollercoaster of news. This is your Sunday Briefing.
Last Tuesday at our latest #vtjtalks event — Inside InBC, the Province's $500M Strategic Investment Fund — I met someone who was new to the local tech scene. They asked me whether there is really enough tech in Vancouver to warrant a Vancouver Tech Journal.
If we were having that conversation today, they would have seen just how much the region punches above its weight for news. In the past week alone, we covered one of the biggest investments in local biotech in recent years, broke news of layoffs in the gaming industry, reported on the homecoming of a fintech startup, and profiled the seed raise of a local AI company, led by Google Ventures.
We stay abreast of the latest in tech news, so you don’t have to. From AI robots to behind-the-scenes of acquisitions, you can count on VTJ to figure out how global trends will affect Vancouver tech, unpack the city’s up-and-coming startups, as well as build community at our in-person events.
So to answer that attendee’s question — there’s more than enough tech news to keep us busy. And it’s only thanks to the support of our members that we can cover it all.
Now onto today’s briefing. It’s 744 words: a three-minute read.
