Artemis raises $1.5 million in pre-seed funding to revolutionize automating and simplifying data cleaning

The startup’s platform is speeding up the process of data cleaning by up to 50 times for technical and non-technical users

Artemis, the Vancouver-based data infrastructure startup, has raised $1.5 million in pre-seed funding to fuel its mission of automating and simplifying data cleaning. The round was led by Raven Indigenous Capital Partners with participation from Telegraph Hill Capital, Ripple Ventures, and other investors.

Artemis also aligns with our mission to empower Indigenous entrepreneurs.”

Artemis plans to use the funds to further simplify the time-consuming and complex process of data cleaning, as well as provide easier access for both technical and non-technical users. On average, data analysts spend nearly 10 hours per week cleaning messy data that’s often dispersed across thousands of tables — making it especially difficult for non-technical users to navigate. 

Currently, Artemis offers an easy-to-use platform that allows teams to “build, explore, and automate data-cleaning tasks using autonomous AI agents.” The company added that “agents can be easily manipulated on a drag-and-drop canvas and deployed in an organization's data warehouse” — speeding up the process of data cleaning by up to 50 times.

Artemis is positioned to expand its reach and serve a broad range of clients for their data automation journeys, given it’s already creating value for B2B e-commerce and healthcare markets through successful proof-of-concept engagements. Companies include Matter, a growth platform for e-commerce brands, and AlayaCare, a home and community-based care platform.

“The winners in the world of AI are organizations that have clean and accessible data,” said Gray, who previously co-founded, scaled, and sold his first startup, Guelph Box, a contactless delivery service, while studying at Carleton University.

“Today, the tools to clean and transform data do not allow teams to scale their work fast enough to keep up with the demand for insights and new AI products. Artemis is here to change that.”

Along with Gray, Artemis’ team includes co-founder and CTO, William Shi, software engineers, Keaton Heisterman and Mathieu Seah Labbe, and head of operations, Kirsten Josling.
