Vancouver’s Keela acquired by Aplos to build the first fully integrated cloud platform for nonprofits

The CRM software has already helped thousands of nonprofits across Canada and the U.S. save time, strengthen donor relationships, and increase fundraising success — raising over $2 billion collectively for causes

Keela, the Vancouver-based CRM software for nonprofits, has been acquired by Aplos, a California-based accounting software backed by Alpine Investors for an undisclosed amount.

Aplos wrote: “This acquisition is a significant step toward our mission of building the first fully integrated cloud platform dedicated to nonprofits — a platform that offers high-quality, integrated technologies across essential use cases for nonprofits: accounting, fundraising, and CRM,” shared Aplos in a post.

“Following our recent acquisition of Raisely to enhance our fundraising capabilities, Keela completes our suite with its top-tier CRM. This strategic move ensures that nonprofits have access to a unified, powerful system, empowering them to manage their operations more efficiently and effectively.”

Keela was founded by lawyer-turned-entrepreneur Nejeed Kassam. The software helps nonprofits save time, strengthen donor relationships, and increase fundraising success through:

  • Consolidating donor data in one place;

  • Streamlining tasks like acknowledgments, tax receipts, gift processing, and data entry through automation and;

  • Offering customizable tools to build personalized donor journeys to improve engagement and retention.

To date, Keela has helped more than 1,000 nonprofits across Canada and the U.S. acquire and retain donors — resulting in over CAD $2 billion raised for various causes.

Kassam has stepped into an advisory role with the company and highlighted how proud he is of Keela’s impact.

“There’s no question: nonprofits deserve the best to maximize the important work being done to build communities. By marrying Keela and Aplos, we’re aiming to build something truly special — providing nonprofits with a platform and a company that will build, grow, and innovate for our sector. Ultimately, this new platform will provide organizations with best-in-class tools that they need to build thriving organizations.”
