Richmond-based UniUni is making moves to dominate the last-mile delivery space. Fresh off a $30M Series C2 round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, the fast-growing logistics company has acquired Toronto’s Shippie, a regional delivery service, to enhance its same- and next-day shipping capabilities and accelerate expansion across North America.
Why it matters: The acquisition strengthens UniUni’s position in the e-commerce logistics sector, bringing Shippie’s regional expertise and technology into its growing network. As competition in last-mile delivery heats up, UniUni is using strategic acquisitions and fresh capital to scale aggressively.
Bigger footprint: UniUni, which has built a reputation for cost-effective, rapid last-mile logistics, will integrate Shippie’s technology and local market knowledge into its operations.
Leadership shift: Shippie’s CEO, Jax Zheng, will join UniUni as director of strategic partnerships, focusing on industry partnerships to drive further growth.
What they’re saying:
“With the acquisition of Shippie, we’re not only expanding our network — we’re bringing in a talented, ambitious team that aligns with our vision,” said Peter Lu, UniUni’s CEO and co-founder. “Growth alone isn’t the goal. It’s about building a lasting, innovative ecosystem that shapes the future of logistics.”
“By combining our local business integration technology and same-day, next-day expertise with UniUni’s advanced logistics network, we’re unlocking new opportunities for efficiency and better service for Canadian and U.S. e-commerce brands,” said Jax Zheng, incoming director of strategic partnerships at UniUni.
The big picture: The last-mile delivery space is increasingly competitive, with companies vying to meet rising consumer expectations for speed and affordability. Backed by new funding and now integrating Shippie’s operations, UniUni is positioning itself as a major player in the North American logistics market, strengthening its network while investing in talent and technology.
